tireless producer, tronic boss and top international dj christian smith here steps up for his first release on plus 8. over the years christian has offered up a high volume and high quantity of techno inclined singles for myriad labels (bedrock, systematic, 100percent pure, soma), so it only makes sense he now finds himself on one of the scenes most reliable outposts for such material. the two track ep kicks off with house is house which is, as the name suggests, a little house-ier than the flip, but still deals in plenty of heavy bass weight and slick repetition. the devil is in the detail filtered, dark voices, rattling cowbells, washes of white noise synths and long, thin, forward looking pads - all of which are married to a mid-tempo groove. the more forceful indulge me then follows. taught kick drums start immediately as claps and subtle synth stabs swell in volume until they eventually fill out the whole airwaves. squirming behind are thin and icy steel lines until the first drop when the deliciously bouncy groove sets in proper. far from aping the usual detroit and chicago tropes, christian smith has once again crafted two classy dance floor joints that are not only exquisitely produced, but that bare all the usual hallmarks of christian smith, one of the most consistent producers in the game.

we are very pleased to welcome bleak on deeply rooted house for his second release on the label, a pure techno 4 track ep and one of the strongest deeply rooted so far! dj deep:i have been very impressed with bleaks talent and how he can combine different styles of techno and still produce very personal music. each track, in my opinion, has a life of its own, it starts in a certain way, and takes you to different places. the arrangements are very subtle, sometimes hypnotic, very intense and emotional, the way the drums evolve and drive the tracks, or how deep chords apear in the back ground taking the track to a differrent territory etc.i hope youll like this 12inch as much as i do!

toby deschamps under his alias jackbox, delivers a freaky minimal techno release for pick time and aftehours lovers. the three tracks set a straight groove with huge baseline, finely surrounded by synthetisers waves, ufo like, and by heavy home-made voices. those voices could make you think after dan bell or even a voice coming straight from somewhere out of the space in a science fiction movie. if you are a regular guest of the klub der visionär you know how it can be spacy on this kitchen floor. anyway, over there, you might have heard toby playing in the past years at his monthly party drop out or for other occasions.then, the tracks of this release are familiar to you as there are some classics from him he likes to play to get people in his music spiral. generaly it can last 12 hours! enjoy the trip.
fur the texan, born bryce isbell, extracts minutiae with precision. his compositions, while airily sparse, are saturated with details plucked from broad of landscapes, whether they resemble the texan prairie or the expanses of industrial germany. isbells composite micro-samples are infinitesimal, soaked in breathless allusion and divorced from their context. the crisp, insistently percussive arrangement oscillates like metal shavings manipulated by an unseen magnet. fur has untraditionally tapped into a eu techno mind-meld, a berlin thought-stream. after his early work with neon indians alan palomo as ghost hustler, isbell dove deep into minimal sounds that transported listeners closer to inner city detroit than the mid-west. unos first fur ep cocoon follows several years of isbell silence. after a notable debut with lefse, fur submerged below a sea of techno and came up with a deep analog style that has acquired fans in fred p and firecracker records with twisting house like >knots<. a second part in the fur saga on the way, uno has faith this young westerner will be putting a big texan stamp on the house scene to come.
energy loaded raw techno anthems. kawl them bombs! next installment of the killer kawl series by lee holman brings four menacing tracks of dark edgytechno. kawl 4.0 opens the ep with a looping percussion piece which builds and builds with concussive intent. 4.1 continues with a solid groove, rasping synth stabs and a grotty industrial technoid bassline to devestating effect. kawl 4.2 takes a different route and rhythmically changes direction back and forth, intensifying with precision as the track meanders through to conclusion. the final track of the ep is 4.3, a deeper affair with bursts of white noise, a murky bassline and an emotive hypnotic lead line captivating its way to stunning completion.
